We are happy to accept submissions on anything related to Mammillaria and the Allied Genera, whether it be cultivation, taxonomy, field notes or just a picture of a plant in your collection. You do not need to be a member of the Society.
Please email your article to editor@mammillaria.net, with any figures/images preferably attached as separate files, and a list of figure legends at the end of your main text. All figures should be reference at the appropriate point in the text. Figures should be a minimum of 300 dpi.
The convention for using Latin species names in scientific articles is to italicize the name, capitalize the first letter of the genus, and use lowercase for the species name. The full name should be written out on its first appearance, after which the genus name can be abbreviated to its first initial (e.g., Mammillaria plumosa becomes M. plumosa in the rest of the text). The “specific epithet” e.g. plumosa should be in all lower case. Names of higher taxonomic ranks (e.g., family, order) are written in standard roman text. The full stop between M and plumosa should not be in italics
Please reference any online link or picture, and ensure there are no copyright issues with printing it in the journal.
To attempt to standardise the nomenclature we would prefer it if you would use the latest names at Kew’s Plant’s of the World Online or World Flora online . This data is curated by professional taxonomists using the latest scientific data, in contrast to the popular Llifle which is “compiled by compassioned volunteers” . You can still put the synonym of your choice in brackets.
