Oehmea

Oehemea was first published in 1951 and has more recently been considered a sub-genus but new DNA studies of Breslin and Sanchez show that this should be restored to it’s own genus. It is surprisingly closer related to Coryphantha and Pelecyphora than it is to Mammillaria. It consists of just three species, O. beneckei, O. sphacelata and variety viperina and O. tonalensis. First published in Cactology 5(Suppl. 13): 3 (2022)
